Meet Samantha
The creation inspiration for Picket Fences was quite simple. The founder’s daughter, Samantha, has developmental delays due to epilepsy. While high functioning at age 21, she was unable to live on her own with the necessary independent living skills. She received minimal job training through Pinellas County school’s transition program. She wanted to be independent. Her parents applied to be a resident at Clearwater’s HUD-funded Waterfall ARC community. She was accepted.
Flash forward 7 years and she has done exceptionally well although not without challenges and road block. However, she met her boyfriend at Waterfall several years ago and has held several jobs. She also has support mini golden doodle named Sydney. She needs minimal support with shopping and time management. She is working towards total independence!
We would duplicate and expand on the opportunities that Samantha has been given for others in the neurodiversity community.
